lie says the po, do not tell them you are a dub!
i fell out of my chair right after looking up "lies" in the index of my jw bible..

hey everyone, i posted a video form of a comment debate on my channel.
the jw was really arrogant and i figured i should bring it to everyone's attention that he did horrible in the debate lol.
it's crudely animated, it's funny due to a chipmunk voice, but people have said they can learn from the technique i used in disarming every one of the usual jw techniques for "winning" biblical debates.
This was a little long, I didn't see the whole thing but it was good. I have heard the argument that preaching from house to house was wrong but it seemed like too much of a bother to find out the reasons behind it. (NWT gives me anxiety.) Thanks for explaining this in an entertaining manner that mostly held my attention.
i have heard this a couple of times:.
evil apostate: if, for example, a friend of you who wanted to be a mormon said: 'i have studied mormon throughoutly: its history, what it says, what the critics say, and i am sure mr. smith was under divine influence and this is the truth', but what if he had only studied mr. smith from mormon litterature - ie.
what mr. smith himself said about himself, his opposers, etc.. would you really think he had done a throughout examination?.
Probably not the best approach, but I would be tempted to say - Really, people TALK to you in the ministry? You have actual conversations about religion with people in your door-to-door work? How often does this sort of thing happen to you? After 6 years of pioneering, I can probably count on one hand the number of people with whom I have gotten past "Hi".
here is a scan from the dec 15 09 wt (study ed) with a graph of how a witness should apportion their time to remain joyful.. .
so according to this graph, to remain joyful a witness should spend 3 times as much of his waking hours in 'theocratic activities' as he should in secular work!
hopscotch.
I think the point of the chart is that it is supposed to be a tool for reflection. The peices are not representational.(Come on, they are going to tell you recreational activities should take as much time as personal study?) The Watchtower knows better than to explictlly tell people how much time to be doing what. You are supposed to look at your life and adjust the sizes accordingly. Then take a good look - which piece is the biggest, which one is the smallest? Does your chart look like what it is supposed to look like? Well, then, you know what to do....This is how the Watchtower works. They tell you what to do without telling you what to do so they can say "We never told you to do that."
Of course it is designed to make you feel bad. You only have 4 worthy options of how to spend your time. Which is completely unfair and unrealistic. And the majortiy of that time is for "kingdom related activitites". Excercising, shopping, emailing, gardening, watching TV, reading, chatting with friends, enjoying fresh air, visiting family - anything that you enjoy, that makes life worth living - all fall into the category of "recreation" which we all know should be the smallest slice of pie. So, each week you are allowed maybe 2 hours that you can fill with one of the options from the above mentioned list. But, hey, they never said that.
i hold in my hand the nov. awake magazine entitled "technology - blessing or curse?"..
now, i understand the need for balance and moderation in using technology, as the magazine says - but could they come up with a more intelligent sounding title?
it makes the question sound as if abandoning technology might be a solution, a considered choice, a real possibility.
"Let's visit the Slaughterhouse!"
"Clean Water - Is it really for you?"
"Air - Can we live without it?"
"The Humble Potato"
"Cherry Cola - Friend or Foe"
this would help out alot.
any takers?.
Georgiegirl and Satanus - Thanks for your help!
sir82 - "The time for maturity is over!" - Oglethorpe
this would help out alot.
any takers?.
This would help out alot. Any takers?
i know this sounds crazy however being raised a jehovah's witness gave me the tools of respect for my fellow man.
also my parents had a huge role as well,of course.. i just find today there are soo many twisted people who are amused by the sickest of circumstances and pride themselves on belittling people.i mean i am the first to say.
i love funny sarcasm and making fun of the jehovah's witness religion because i believe in my heart its a crazy cult and way out in left field.
I only mean that it all made me stronger and that I stood up for what I believed in and it wasn't the Organization.
I think this is the only benefit that I gained from being raised in the org. But I would never agree that all of my moral sence came from the religion. I wish that my dad (not a JW) would agree with me. Of course he never takes credit for any of his accomplishments.
one thing that always got me upset -- .
sisters wearing pantyhose all year round?
brothers or sisters frowned upon for wearing snowpants whilst going outside in snowstorms or incidences of high snow (quite often in the mountains of pa) .
Nobody ever told me that pantyhose were a must. If they had I would have laughed at them or worse. I hardly ever wore pantyhose. Either heavy tights or bare legs and I never wore heels in FS, ever. Dr. Marten boots in the winter, Dr. Marten oxfords with socks in the summer.
They wanted me to forgo college, work a part-time crappy job, use my own crappy car and finance my pioneering "career" to work for them for free and then try to tell me I had to stick to some sort of dress code - get real!
because i was a born-in and raised in the wt, i was always told that we don't need holidays to tell us to give gifts to our children.
we give them gifts all year around.. did your parents ever make good on that promise?.
I remember being probably 7 walking through the toy department with my mom. My mom overheard another mother tell her kid "well, you'll just have to wait and see if you will get it for your birthday." My mom turned to me and said something like, aren't you glad that you don't have to wait for birthdays, we don't need special occasions for presents. I remember thinking, what a load of crap. Today's not a special occasion, I don't suppose you'll buy me a present though. Plus you won't buy me a present for my birthday either.
My mom did buy us stuff although it was always weird stuff, like '11" Fashion Doll' who's hair wasn't really supposed to be a mohawk but it was anyway. And Dukes of Hazzard stuff. Why? I hated that show! And she never wrapped it up like it was really a "present".
